Water Supply Operator

The Village of New Lexington Water Treatment Plant is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Water Supply Operator. This position plays a vital role in ensuring safe, clean, and reliable drinking water for our community.

⏰ Work Schedule

7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Rotating weekends:

  • Week 1:

    Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

  • Week 2:

    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday

Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Water Supply Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment and processing equipment. Duties include SCADA system operation, chemical handling, laboratory testing, and system monitoring to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.

Examples of Duties Include:

  • Operates computerized SCADA system to monitor and control water flow and treatment

  • Controls pumps, motors, and valves to regulate water distribution

  • Adds and adjusts treatment chemicals for disinfection and water quality

  • Performs laboratory testing and equipment calibration for OEPA compliance

  • Collects water samples and records water quality data (chlorine, turbidity, etc.)

  • Performs filter backwashing procedures

  • Maintains cleanliness of lab and facility areas

  • Receives, stores, and handles treatment chemicals safely

  • Responds to chemical spills or leaks using proper PPE procedures

🎓 Minimum Qualifications

  • Ohio EPA Class I (or higher) Water Supply Operator Certification preferred (not required at hire)

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License required

  • Ohio EPA Laboratory Certification preferred or must be obtained within first few months of employment
