POSITION DESCRIPTION

Laborer

 

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Performs required labor as part of a public service department crew including street repair, water line repair, and other duties necessary for the maintenance and repair of Village streets, alleys, parkways, buildings, and properties.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the direction of the Public Service Superintendent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, learns to perform and performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Public Service Department including maintenance and construction work in one or more Public Service Operations; demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties; performs other related duties as required; performs manual work in all types of weeather and other working conditions; loads, unloads, and moves heavy objects, digs ditches, shovels gravel and dirt, etc; operates automobiles, dump trucks, snow plows & salt spreader, and other other pieces of equipment within the village as needed; completes routine maintenance of equipment and tools; performs routine building maintenance work as needed; other duties as deemed necessary. Subject to emergency call in as needed may include an extended work day and/or nights and weekends.

 

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
